Associate Professor Thang Leng Leng is socio-cultural anthropologist and current head of the Department of Japanese Studies, National University of Singapore (NUS).
Her research interests include aging, intergenerational relations and programming, migration, family and gender with a focus on Japan and Singapore, as well as Asia in general.
She is also Deputy Director of the Faculty’s Centre for Family and Population Research, Fellow (honorary) of the College of Alice and Peter Tan at University Town, and Associate, Asia Research Institute. She is co-editor-in-chief of Journal of Intergenerational Relationships, vice chair of International Consortium for Intergenerational Relationships, and one of the key founding steering committee members of Japanese Studies Association in Southeast Asia.
