Laura Morosanu is a Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Sussex and a member of the Sussex Centre for Migration Research, which she joined in 2012. Her main research interests are in the areas of migration and ethnicity, with a focus on migrants’ social relationships and socialisation practices. She has published single or collaborative articles on migrants’transnational social ties, cosmopolitan encounters, professional relationships, experiences of discrimination and stigmatised identities, which appeared in Ethnic and Racial Studies, Ethnicities, Sociology or the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies. Laura is currently a member of the Sussex team working on the Horizon 2020 project ‘Youth mobility: Maximising opportunities for individuals, labour markets and regions in the EU’(YMOBILITY), coordinated by Sapienza University, Rome. Prior to this, she was involved in an ESRC-funded research project on East European migrant workers in the UK (led by Dr Jon Fox, University of Bristol), which explored how ‘race’ informs and is reinvented in the experience of East Europeans in Britain.
